Rise of the Ronin (ROTR) is an action RPG developed by Team Ninja for Koei Tecmo, set in the 19th century at the end of the Edo period. The game follows the Blade Twins on a quest for revenge against the Shogunate.
Originally released as a PlayStation-exclusive title for PS5 on March 22, 2024, it was officially announced on January 27, 2025, that the PC port would launch in March.
Rise of the Ronin: Now on PC
Nearly one year after its PS5 debut, Koei Tecmo has finally released Rise of the Ronin on PC. Starting from today, you can grab it on Steam at the following times:
- March 10, 2025, 6:00 PM PST / 9:00 PM EST
- March 11, 2025, 1:00 PM GMT / 2:00 PM CET
To mark the occasion, the team has released a new Steam trailer showcasing the game’s setting and the historical backdrop, where we’ll experience the end of one era and the dawn of another in 19th-century Japan.
Rise of the Ronin: PC Release Features and Latest Updates
Alongside the Steam launch trailer, Koei Tecmo has confirmed key features of the PC version. The game offers several improvements, mainly in graphics and audio, making the PC version superior to the PS5 version in some areas. Key features include:
- Resolution & FPS: On PC, players can enjoy up to 8K resolutions in ultra-wide and super ultra-wide formats, with frame rates up to 120fps.
- Ray Tracing & Upscaling: The PC version includes improved Ray Tracing and supports upscaling options such as FSR, DLSS, and XeSS.
- PC Controls: The ability to customize keyboard and mouse controls.
These upgrades have been well received, but some early reviews report technical issues. Many players have noted frame rate drops and low performance even on high-end systems. Team Ninja is investigating these issues and plans to release a patch soon.
